Key Omissions from 2026 Women's T20 World Cup Squad

Kashvee Gautam remains the most notable omission from the squad, who despite being a major prospect lost out on the opportunity due to fitness concerns. Anushka Sharma also failed to secure a spot in the 15 player squad, despite having a breakthrough WPL and receiving her maiden call-up for South Africa. Uma Chetry, the designated backup keeper, also lost to Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh to become a second choice for the wicket-keeper in the tournament. The selectors chose Bhatia due to her experience in the English conditions.

Amanjyot Kaur, a member of the World Cup winning squad in 2025 also failed to make her place for the team to England due to a back injury and lack of game time in recent series. Speaking on her omission, Kaur said, "Amanjot is our key player, she is not available. She is away from cricket for 4-5 months now. It was difficult to find someone like her, but we are trying. She got opportunities. We have got Radha back in the side, she is also an all-rounder. It was hard to find Amanjot's replacement. We are trying to balance the team."

In addition, G. Kamalini & Vaishnavi Sharma, both young players were tested during recent international assignments but were omitted in favor of the returning Radha Yadav and newcomer Nandini Sharma.
