India gear up towards the upcoming T20 World Cup with a five match T20I series against New Zealand. This series will provide both sides with much needed game time and they can fine tune their combinations and with the World Cup being played in India, players can get used to these conditions. When it comes to the head to head battle in this format, India and New Zealand have faced each other in 25 matches in T20. Out of these 25 games, India have won 14 whereas New Zealand have come out victorious on 10 occasions. 1 match ended with a tie.

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian side and the squad will miss the services of Tilak Varma and Washington Sundar, both of whom are named in the WC squad but are out of action currently due to injuries. Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi have been added to the squad as replacements for this series and they will be keen to perform well.

India have a pretty much settled team and the only question for the opening match would be whether they will play Kishan or Shreyas Iyer at 3. Overall they have a strong squad. India are placed in the group with Pakistan, Netherlands, Namibia and the USA for the World Cup.

New Zealand who won the ODI series 2-1 will be having a stronger squad with the return of Mitch Santner and other players. They are placed in Group D in the World Cup along with Afghanistan, South Africa, Canada and UAE.
