Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur emphasised Team India’s preparation and confidence ahead of the T20 Women’s World Cup 2026 in England, pointing out that the women’s team has ‘some unfinished job to finish’. Coming to the Captain’s Cranival Event at Waterloo Bridge, Harmanpreet was swarmed by crowd all around, and when asked by the host, “How’s the chaos?”, Harmanpreet calmly replied that the squad is high on confidence and believes that things will turn around better this year in the T20 World Cup.

She also acknowledged the fact that winning the ODI World Cup after years of denial in front of the home crowd, but now the team is focused on changing fates in England.

“I think it is crazy. Good to see so many fans have come here and are having a good time with all the captains. Everyone is in good shape and confident; hopefully, we will play our best cricket. I think winning the World Cup in front of the home crowd was very special, and we are going to remember this for our entire lives. Playing in England is always special, and we have some unfinished job to finish. We will want to recreate some good memories,” said Harmanpreet Kaur to Star Sports host in Captain’s Carnival ahead of the T20 World Cup

Indian women would hope the horrors of their past don’t come to haunt them in England. They were eliminated in the group stage of the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, finishing third in Group A after being defeated by New Zealand and Australia. Although in November 2025, the Indian Women’s Team made history, clinching their first ICC Trophy after years of denial, Harmanpreet and the team would like to keep that momentum for sure.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur emphasises a "process over pressure" approach for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Keeping the iconic ODI World Cup triumph in mind, she focuses on maintaining high on-field energy, maximising player opportunities during preparatory series, and leveraging the competitive maturity gained from the Women's Premier League.

“Personally, I try not to think too much about outside pressure. My focus remains on preparation, contributing to the team, and staying present in the moment. Over the years, I have realised that expectations will always exist at this level, and the key is not to let them distract you from your process. It is also very encouraging to see more fans engaging with women’s cricket now. Growing support motivates all of us to keep improving and performing consistently,” said Harmanpreet Kaur in a conversation with IANS.

The Indian Women's team is competing in Group 1 of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which features a round-robin format. India's group-stage fixtures include matches against Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.
