South Africa beat India by 76 runs in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2026. It was a clinical performance from Proteas. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. Indian pacers started really well as South Africa lost the first three wickets for just 20 runs. Bumrah struck twice and Arshdeep picked up a wicket. Miller joined Brevis and both the batters counter attack. Miller scored a half century of just 26 balls to take South Africa to a very strong position. Dewald Brevis played aggressively and took on the bowlers scoring 45 runs of just 28 balls before getting dismissed.
South Africa recovered really well from 20/3 and posted a total of 187/7 at the end of the first innings. David Miller scored 63 while Tristan Stubbs provided them with the perfect finish scoring two sixes of the last two balls. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India picking up three wickets in four overs while giving away just 15 runs.

Chasing a target of 187, India got off to a poor start as Ishan Kishan was dismissed in the opening over against Markram. Tilak Varma fell in the next over by Jansen as India were in all sorts of trouble at 5/2. It was that sort of the day where Indian batters struggled a lot. Abhishek was the next to fall for 15 as India sinked further. Suryakumar Yadav could not get going and the promotion of Sundar did not work as Sundar departed for 11.

Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya stitched a partnership but could not get many boundaries as the required run rate kept creeping. India were 86/5 in 14 overs and required 102 runs of 36 balls. It was an uphill task from there. India lost both Hardik Pandya and Rinku in the same over to Maharaj as things went from bad to worse for India. Keshav Maharaj picked up his third wicket in the same over as India lost the plot. It was an extremely disappointing performance from India. They were bowled out for 111 as South Africa won the game and continued their great form. David Miller was the player of the match for his terrific performance.
