Sunrisers Hyderabad booked their playoff spot with a commanding win over Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium. Chennai Super Kings were batting first and got a brilliant start from Samson. They lost a few wickets in the powerplay and Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled throughout the innings before getting dismissed for 15 from 21 balls. Brevis provided them with a good finish as they ended up with 180/7 at the end of the first innings. Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Travis Head early and Chennai Super Kings were excellent in the powerplay. However, a half century from Kishan along with his partnership with Klassen took the game away as Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with an over to spare.

CSK 180/7 (Brevis 44, Cummins 3/28) lost to SRH 181/5 (Kishan 70, Mukesh 2/36)

Klaasen: It was a difficult chase. It was always a tough task, happy for the team. It was a brilliant performance. The first couple of balls I blocked, I was like I can't play like this. I have been striking the ball, hopefully I continue like this. We have been incredible with the bat. When they bowled it skid on nicely. It's not an easy place to come and play cricket. I think if we win the next match, we'll finish 1 or 2. The Orange Army will be there in thousands

Ruturaj Gaikwad | CSK captain:

Was a good game of cricket. Was a good T20 pitch, didn't change much. Just missed out on few, but still proud of the boys. Just needed to cash in on the opportunity after the opposition lost a wicket, couldn't do that. Lot of positives to be honest. Samson has been playing really well for us. Missed out on a few key players. It depends on a lot of factors. Everyone gave their heart out today, proud of the boys. The fans support us through the thick and thin. We were much better this year compared to the last year.

Pat Cummins | SRH captain:

Really satisfying. Bit different to how we normal play. Very happy. That partnership, it was really tough, we thought you need 1-2 really good partnerships. We are not famous for responsible batting. But yeah when we were bowling, the ball was keeping low and not quite coming on. It was about par. They play here and know the wicket a lot better. Winning today was what mattered. You can't give yourselves a better chance than what we have. Ishan also deserves the credit for leading the side for the first half. There are a few areas we can improve but overall happy.

Ishan Kishan | Player of the Match:

When I was wicket-keeping I felt this wicket was not easy. My job is to try and finish the game. Because for the batters coming on it was not easy. It was about being there and believing in yourself. I was just trying to keep it simple, try and bat as many over as possible. There was no conversation, we both were just playing our shots.
