Mumbai Indians fans who have been awaiting the presence of their power-packed squad to play against the Delhi Capitals might be in for some bad news as Hardik Pandya is set to miss the MI clash against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The absence of the skipper might come as a shock to many fans who wanted to see his fiery performance through both the ball and the bat today.

While there is no official confirmation of a new injury, his absence from multiple practice sessions and the team's travel to Delhi has sparked significant speculation. Even after the team arrived in Delhi, they had two practice sessions, but Hardik Pandya did not show up for either of them. Reports suggest that he avoided the practise session to manage his workload and avoid pressure on his injury-prone body. The BCCI and MI management are reportedly being cautious with his fitness to ensure he is available for long-term goals, including the 2027 ODI World Cup, where he is expected to bowl his full 10-over quota.

Suryakumar Yadav to be the stand-in captain today.

As per the broadcasters, Pandya is set to miss the match; the reasons for the same are unknown. In Pandya’s absence, it is speculated that the T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, would play the role of the stand-in captain.

With Pandya ruled out, MI has made three significant changes to their lineup for the clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. They have included Corbin Bosch, Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar in the squad. Chahar, who did not play the last match against KKR, will reportedly play in the match against Delhi and Santner, who joined the MI squad after the T20 World Cup final, will also be a part of the team.

The squad list includes Mayank Markande as a likely candidate to be brought in during the second innings.

The Delhi Capitals will face the Mumbai Indians squad today at the Capitals’ home ground in Delhi. Both teams, having won their first games this season, would come in with much more confidence to grab those 2 points and add it to the table beside their name.
