The TATA IPL 2026 season kicks off on March 28, with RCB facing SRH in the opening match. Experts Robin Uthappa and Irfan Pathan shared their views on the greatest IPL team, young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy, and MS Dhoni’s future.

CSK vs MI – Who is the Greatest IPL Team?

Irfan Pathan said the debate between CSK and MI will always remain close. CSK dominated early with back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011, while MI built a strong legacy from 2013 onwards, including consecutive wins in 2019 and 2020.

He highlighted that MI have contributed significantly to Indian cricket by producing multiple match-winners and leaders. While both teams have five titles each, Pathan believes MI have a slight edge due to their impact on Indian cricket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Growth in IPL 2026

Pathan described this season as a learning phase for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. With consistent performances in domestic and youth cricket, he has gained attention, but bowlers are now analysing his game.

To succeed, he must adapt, improve weaknesses, and evolve his batting. If he continues scoring consistently, it will prove his growth as a player.

MS Dhoni’s Future & Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Captaincy

Robin Uthappa believes IPL 2026 could be MS Dhoni’s final season. He suggested Dhoni may take on a more mentor-like role while gradually stepping back.

Uthappa also emphasized giving Ruturaj Gaikwad time to grow as captain, allowing him to lead independently and prove himself without Dhoni’s shadow.

Why SRH May Struggle This Season

Uthappa pointed out that SRH’s aggressive batting alone won’t be enough to win the title. Their bowling attack lacks balance, especially on batting-friendly pitches like Hyderabad.

He noted that without strong support from bowlers, the team may struggle when their top order fails, making them less likely to be seri

ous title contenders.
