Chennai Super Kings have started their IPL campaign today against RR, but it is not a happy day in the yellow dugout, as it seems. CSK is in trouble and a deep one.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first, hoping to utilise the red soil pitcha nd overcast conditions to take maximum wickets of CSK in the powerplay with the likes of pacers like Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger.
Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, with their fire spell, crafted an early collapse, restricting CSK in the Powerplay, posing a mammoth total. The fourth one, Mathhew Short to fall to Sandeep Sharma, making CSK’s total 41/4 in the powerplay, which is quite a below-par score. In 10 overs, they have lost 6 wickets, exposing the middle order too.
Jadeja made talks in the auction when he was released by his team CSK after a long time, and was traded to RR with Sanju Samson. Fans had mixed reactions to this, but Jadeja is on a mission with the ball in his hand this time. Against his former team, Jadeja came in and sculpted two important wickets of Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dubey in the middle overs to keep RR in the game and dominate. This tacky bit of moisture surface did help Jaddu, too. He took the wickets in the same over. Although Dube hit him for a 6 in the first ball, Jadeja took that in ego and sculpted his wicket in the next ball following a cold celebration.
Although this is not the first time Jadeja has played for the Rajasthan Royals, he debuted in the IPL 2008 inaugural season with the Royals.
Let us have a look at his records with RR:
2008 – 2 innings, 0 wickets, 9.69 economy
2009 – 10 innings, 6 wickets, 6.47 economy
2026 – 1 innings, 2 wickets, 6.00 economy
Jadeja has made a return to RR after 17 years. He has also played for Kochi Tuskers and Gujarat Lions, although his longest stint was with CSK from 2012 till 2025.
