The BCCI will officially announce the full schedule and venues for the IPL 2026 Playoffs within the next two days. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Saturday, May 2, that the board is "seriously thinking" about the final selection of venues to ensure the tournament's reputation is protected. The playoff schedule is expected to be released by May 4, 2026. The IPL 2026 Final is confirmed for May 31, 2026. While the league stage concludes on May 24, the specific stadiums for the four playoff matches remain unconfirmed.

“The BCCI will confirm the venues for the IPL 2026 playoffs in two days.We are seriously thinking about the venues... the board will take a decision over the next couple of days.”

The BCCI is currently weighing traditional hosting rights against safety and logistical concerns. The home of the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium would typically host the Final and Qualifier 1. However, Saikia noted that the board is evaluating measures to avoid a repeat of the tragic stampede that occurred during last year's victory celebrations. As the home of the 2025 runners-up, Punjab Kings, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh stadium is a strong candidate for the Eliminator or a Qualifier. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is reportedly being considered as a high-capacity alternative.

Punjab Kings are the clear favourites with a 92% chance to qualify for the playoffs. They need only 1 more win from their remaining 6 games to virtually seal a spot. Both RCB and SRH are in a strong position. They need 2 wins from their final 5 games. RCB currently holds the tournament's best Net Run Rate (+1.420), which acts as a powerful safety net. While Rajasthan Royals have 12 points, they have played more games (10) than the others. They must win 2 of their last 4 matches to stay clear of the chasing pack.
