Struggling Mumbai Indians at the bottom of the table in IPL 2026 are looking for a win against the undefeated mighty Punjab Kings tonight. With the uncertainty of Rohit Sharma out of the playing XI after a hamstring Injury, a lot of responsibility was on opener Quinton De Kock and Rickelton.

But Arshdeep bamboozled Rickelton and Surya Kumar Yadav on a duck early, creating concerns for the Mumbai Indians in a must-win game mid-season.

But Quinton De Kock and Naman Dhir took matters into their own hands under pressure, keeping the momentum ongoing. De Kock came into the team as a replacement for Rohit Sharma, and he grabbed the opportunity without disappointing.

He scored a quickfire 50* off 28 balls. He has also become the second wicket-keeper batsman to have the most 50+ scores in IPL (25) after KL Rahul.

Star Sports posted a video of his half-century and welcomed him to IPL 2026:

Some fans even questioned whether QDK should replace Rohit Sharma for the rest of the season with such form.

QDK continues his SA20 form in IPL

Quinton De Kock’s form is not out of the blue; he has been just phenomenal in the 2026 SA20.

He won the Player of the Tournament with 390 runs in 11 innings, averaging 39.00 with four fifties and a strike rate of 148.85. He led his side, Sunrisers East Cape, to win the SA20 trophy.

After winning, De Kock said, “It's obviously just nice to be in a team that knows how to win this comp. I think the guys rallied very well under pressure at the best of times, which is nice to be part of. Yeah, some guys who are leaving this tournament would have learned a couple of things about their own game, which is great. We had a great time. It's been an amazing month. Obviously, it's a great tournament, run by Mr Birrell and Stubbo and the whole crew. It's been amazing.”

Good to see QDK performing for MI when they needed him, and let’s see how his IPL season goes.
