Bernardo Silva, the star midfielder who plays for the Portuguese and the English Premier League club Manchester City, has officially announced that he will leave the club this summer as his contract expires. Earlier, City Assistant Manager Pep Lijnders already announced that he will leave the club.

The City legend shared a heartfelt note for his team and fans, showing his gratitude for the club, the coach Pep Guardiola, and, of course, his fans. He went down memory lane to reveal that when he joined City in 2017 he was a little boy who just wanted to succeed in life, but the club has given him more than he could have expected. He also mentioned how joyous it was to win the treble, domestic quadruple, and more than that, the club was like his family; he started things here.

Then he went on to thank his fans and supporters, and Pep, his coach and teammates who made him never feel like away from home. He was seen to get emotional about the fact that only a few months remain now to leave the club.

City Fans couldn’t stop themselves from getting emotional and showing gratitude to their star player.

Some city fans even shared old match videos of Silva nutmegging his way through rival Liverpool players:

Even Man City posted an official statement of his leaving the club. In his 451 appearances for the club, he has been a legend, winning 19 major trophies with the club since his arrival in 2017. He has won six Premier Leagues, one UCL, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups, three Community Shields, a Fifa Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup Winner’s medal.

Erling Haaland reacts to Silva leaving Man City

Erling Haaland, Silva’s teammate in City and a star player, didn’t take time to react much to the news of his leaving. Talking to Sky Sports, he said, "It's difficult to find the words because he's been such an important figure for this club over the past 9 years. The smartness, you know, he’s probably the smartest player I’ve ever played with, you know, because of just the way he kind of controls the game and everything.”

He further added, “So talk about his City career, the last nine years, I think, have been crazy. Look at this. I think he has six Premier Leagues. Look at his trophies. He won the Champions League. Look at how important he was in the treble season when he scored against Bayern, when he scored two against [Real] Madrid. It’s difficult to find words because he’s been such an important figure for this club for the last nine years and also been shaping the club with the way he’s been on and off the pitch.”

Bernardo Silva will forever be a City fan, and he wishes City youngsters would keep creating memories to cherish forever.
