The Indian star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up on the support given by Rohit Sharma at the other end stating that it really helped me. The pressure was piling up on the young left-hander with the number of dot balls but the veteran was there at the other end to just calm him down. During the initial phase, Rohit Sharma suggested Jaiswal to just rotate the strike and keep his intent set. He claimed that the advice greatly helped him as that helped him to just settle down on the nerves and he followed his advice. The opening partnership between the two stood tall for 170 runs and that most definitely helped India seal the game in the first half of the second innings.

"Of course Rohit Bhaiya is always helpful and I always ask a lot of questions to him and try to implement in the game today itself as well. When I was getting dot balls, I kept asking what should I do then. He told me to just rotate the strike and the intent should be there. So I was keeping my intention and rotating the strike and that really helped me," stated Yashasvi Jaiswal on the support given by Rohit Sharma at the other end during his innings.

Jaiswal hails Rohit's mentorship while playing together

The former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been a great mentor for the young Indian talents as even Tilak Varma had mentioned the support of the veteran regarding his captaincy. It was important for Yashasvi Jaiswal to make a statement with his bat in today’s game against Afghanistan. Despite the relatively slow start he had to his innings, he was able to get into his usual batting rhythm in no time. Jaiswal ended up scoring his 2nd ODI hundred and his unbeaten score of 110 helped India win the game by a thumping 9 wickets.

“I always enjoy playing with him, going and playing under him, Everything is just amazing,” stated Yashasvi Jaiswal on playing with Rohit Sharma. The former Indian captain has led the Indian white-ball set-up for a decent tenure and the side enjoyed quite a bit of success under his leadership. Considering the similarity in the roles that both the batters undertake in the initial phase of the game, Jaiswal could do a world of good with the advice from Rohit Sharma. He could potentially replace Rohit Sharma in the future as well and India’s opening pair could be Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

As Yashasvi Jaiswal has once again proven his worth for India in the 50-over format, he has emerged as an option that India may not be able to resist. The only problem will be the abundance of batters that India has at the moment in the batting unit and the face of the batting unit could change with the return of Viirat Kohli as well. Yashasvi Jaiswal should remain patient for his opportunity as it could take some time until his chance arrives in this format of the game.
