The 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set get underway in this week and the teams have already started their preparations. The captains of all the IPL teams met with the officials from the Board of Cricket Control of India on March 25 to discuss key issues including the Impact player rule and code of conduct. There were also a wide range of topics discussed with the captains and a photoshoot with the captains followed. The IPL 2026 captains meeting took place at the BCCI head quarters in Mumbai. All the ten captains assembled and the pictures were shared on social media which has now gone viral. 

The pictures of the captains was shared via the official IPL twitter handle. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill were spotted along with Axar Patel, Riyan Parag and Ishan Kishan. In the absence of Pat Cummins, it was Ishan Kishan the stand in captain who attended the event. While Rishabh Pant also made his presence with the new look LSG jersey. Watch the post here. 

As per reports, Javagal Srinath and Nitin Menon who are the heads of the BCCI’s match refrees and umpire panels respectively will address the captains. The meeting is schedule from 4:30 to 6pm on Wednesday. The BCCI has shared the playing conditions with the franchises and have also highlighted the key changes in rules. Some of the changes are change of ball in second innings, bat check, deliberate short runs and restrictions around the placement of the fielder. 

The ball change rules mean that the bowling second is allowed to request one ball change after the completion of the 10th over. The request must be made by the bowling team captain and can be made at the end of an over. The umpire also has the authority to change the ball at any time during the match. These are the few changes that are being discussed and has taken into effect in the upcoming season. The 2026 IPL will start on March 28 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match of the season.
