Ajinkya Rahane the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders attended the IPL captain’s photoshoot which took place on March 25. The IPL 2026 starts this week and the schedule for the initial phase is already out and the entire schedule is set to come out in the coming week. The action starts on March 28 and for Kolkata Knight Riders it will be Rahane who will lead them for this edition. Kolkata Knight Riders shared a post on Instagram with the caption ‘’Ajju da all set for the Captain's photoshoot’’. Watch the post here.
Kolkata Knight Riders had a tough season in 2025 where they could not make it to the playoffs and struggled a lot. Rahane was under pressure but the management have shown faith in him as he continues as the captain for the upcoming edition. Ajinkya Rahane has been in good form in the domestic circuit and he will be keen to have some good performances as he looks to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026. Kolkata Knight Riders have already begun the preparations as they played an intra squad game recently and they have a very strong squad for the upcoming edition.

Kolkata Knight Riders will start their season with a game against Mumbai Indians and they will then be up against SRH, PBKS and LSG in the other three games. The rest of the schedule is yet to be released. Ahead of the season, KKR have been hit with injuries to Harshit Rana who is ruled out of the season and also Pathirana is set to miss the initial games which is a big blow.
