The Chairman of the International Cricket Council and the secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah invited over a 1,000 specially abled people to watch the game between the Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders. The match was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the fans appreciated the philanthropic gesture of Jay Shah. His role in the cricketing world has given importance to the commitment of “Spirit of Cricket” and social responsibility.

The initiative was part of an effort to make cricket inclusive and accessible to fans who might otherwise face difficulties in attending a sporting event. Saurav Ganguly was also seen to be seated alongside Jay Shah in the middle of the seating area for the specially abled fans.

Last-over drama caps inclusive cricketing evening as Titans seal win and KKR’s struggles continue

It was a high stakes encounter between the Gujarat Titans and the Kolkata Knight Riders as the visitors were yet to win a game in the tournament. The away side once again failed in the powerplay as they lost some early wickets including the wicket of their skipper, Ajinkya Rahane. Their new opener Tim Seifert was brought in place of Finn Allen and Seifert couldn’t make much of an impact as well. Cameron Green had a rough patch in the entire season and he was even trolled for his low scores. After being dismissed for a first ball duck against Noor Ahmad, Green seemed determined to make an impact against the Titans. He smashed a sensational half century scoring 79 off 55 balls. Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh dealt a couple of late blows and helped KKR reach a score of 180 after the 20 overs.

The Gujarat Titans seemed to have no difficulty in the beginning as they were cruising on their way to the target. Despite the loss of some quick early wickets early on, Shubman Gill was able to hold the innings together with a solid display of batting. The batters at the other end did give him support for the majority of the innings but they didn’t take the pressure off Gill. At the end of the 17th over, Vaibhav Arora got the better off Shubman Gill as he departed for a well made 86 off 50 balls. The game went right down to the wire as they lost 5 wickets. At the end, Shahrukh Khan ran for a quick double to take his side across the line and they secured another win in the season. The Gujarat Titans prevailed over the Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets.

The specially abled fans had an absolute treat to watch as both the teams fought till the very end of the game. The Kolkata Knight Riders will be disappointed with their run in the season as nothing seems to be going in their favour. They still do have Matheesha Pathirana to join the squad but only time will tell, if their fortunes could be changed with the addition of the Sri Lankan speedster.
