England captain Joe Root has admitted he is frustrated after Brydon Carse was arrested following an incident at a nightclub. Carse was arrested while England were preparing for their next Test. The fast bowler was not on England duty when the incident happened. He had been released to play for Durham but remains a centrally contracted England player. The ECB has referred the matter to the Cricket Regulator. Carse has also been replaced in England’s squad by Sonny Baker for the Lord’s Test. Root addressed the incident publicly for the first time and made it clear that he was unhappy about the situation. He also said he had spoken to his teammate about what happened.

“If I'm being brutally honest, I'm really hacked off, I'm really disappointed,” Root said in his opening statement. “After last week's performance, we're sat here and we're talking about something that is not related to it at all.” Root said his first concern was Carse as a person. “I've spoken to Brydon, and when I first found out my main concern was him as a person,” he said. He added, “I don't think I'm speaking out of turn by saying he's very upset, very apologetic and understands his actions. I'm sure that when he gets his chance he will say that himself.” Root also expressed frustration at the stupid mistakes that continue to be made.

Brydon Carse dropped by England as Cricket Regulator investigates nightclub incident ahead of Test match in Rothesay

Brydon Carse has been dropped from England’s squad for the second Test against Pakistan as an investigation continues into an incident at a nightclub in Derby. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the fast bowler will not be available while the Cricket Regulator looks into the events of Saturday night. Carse was seen in handcuffs outside a nightclub, although reports say he was later released without charge. He was not part of England’s playing XI for the first Test, which England won by an innings and 103 runs.

The ECB said, “Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained.” The board has not disclosed further details about the incident, with the Cricket Regulator now set to investigate. Carse, who had recently featured for Durham in their County Championship win over Derbyshire, has been replaced in England’s squad by Sonny Baker. The decision also comes amid renewed attention on off-field behaviour within the England camp, following several incidents involving players over the past year.
