England wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler praised India’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooyavanshi in a podcast recently ahead of the series against India. He also sent out a warning to England bowlers ahead of the first T20I against England.
Speaking in the podcast with Stuart Broad, the former England captain Jos Buttler said, “Now I'm sure he might get his chance; there are five games, so he might get his chance. I did- we had dinner tonight, and I said, if he does play, just know if you're bowling to him, he will try and hit your first ball for six.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the fastest batter in history to reach 1,000 IPL runs in terms of balls faced in the recent IPL. He needed only 440 balls to claim the record. In the campaign, the left hander smashed the bowlers for 63 fours and 72 sixes. He broke Abhishek Sharma’s record as well to achieve the record for smashing the most sixes in a single IPL season.
Speaking about Vaibhav’s record-breaking stats, Jos Buttler said “I think that is a given so make sure we're ready for it and have a think what delivery you want to bowl because I think he'll, he'd like that stat of hitting his first ball in international cricket for six and he's got obviously who've we talked about before he's got Bumrah, Cummins, Hazelwood in his pocket."
Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi make his debut in 1st EnglandT20I?
India are all set to take on England in a five match T20I series with the first game starting on July 1 at Chester Le Street. The anticipation for this blockbuster game is so high that all the tickets have been sold out at the stadium. As we gear up for the start of the first T20I there is only one question going through everyone’s mind.
It is whether teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi makes his debut in the first game of the series. After having a dream IPL season where he scored 776 runs and also won the orange cap, Vaibhav was picked up for the Ireland and England T20Is. However, to the surprise of many, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did not make his debut in the Ireland series.
The thought process behind not giving a debut to Vaibhav in the two games in Ireland could be the management simply backing a settled opening combination that won them the T20I World Cup. But considering India lost the series against Ireland 2-0 and the fact that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been in stunning form, it will make it really hard for the Indian management to not give him a debut soon.
Ahead of the match day, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi batted for a long time in the nets against main Indian pacers like Harshit Rana and looked in good touch. He has already earned praise from Jos Buttler and Harry Brook and it seems likely that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to make his debut in the England series and it could be as soon as the first T20I.
