The Australian wicket-keeper Josh Inglis has joined the LSG side at the Wankhede ahead of the clash against the Mumbai Indians. This will be a massive boost to their batting unit as their most serious area of concern would be their batting. Rishabh Pant and his men seem to be really low on morale with their current performance in the tournament. LSG are at the bottom of the table and their chances for qualification seems slim from there. They have lost 5 games on the trot and they will be desperate to taste victory. LSG will be looking to capitalise on the poor form of the Mumbai Indians to get a move ahead in the points table.

The addition of Josh Inglis in the batting unit could give them some firepower in the middle. In the last season, he was with the Punjab Kings and he proved to be a crucial player at the number 3 spot. In the knockout stages of the tournament and in the finals in the previous season, he contributed some valuable runs with the bat. It would be a difficult decision to make for the management as the foreign slot of LSG seems to be fixed as of now. They will have to find some way to include Josh Inglis in the starting squad as he can add a lot of value to the LSG batting unit.

Struggling batting unit seeks revival while team weighs foreign combination

The Lucknow Super Giants have been below average with their performances in this edition of the IPL. Their batting unit has been their most disappointing area as they simply haven't been amongst the runs. The opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram was phenomenal in the previous season as they used to dominate the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran was arguably one of the best batters of the previous season as he could maximise the scoring in the middle overs. In this season, their batting unit has been below par and they haven't been able to chase down even the simplest of totals. They found a new talent in Mukul Choudhary but he hasn't been the most consistent of them all. However, they will have to make a huge decision in terms of how they will use their foreign players, to include Josh Inglis in the team.

Josh Inglis has been a destructive batter that is aggressive in his approach and can find the boundary frequently. He is just the fourth Australian cricketer to score a century across all three formats of the game. He was a part of the Australian squads that secured the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, and the 2023 World Test Championship. In the 2025 IPL season, he scored 278 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 162.57 and he scored a half century as well. He played an impressive knock of 73 off 42 balls against the Mumbai Indians, helping the Punjab Kings to reach the tournament final. It will be a debatable decision regarding who to replace but they have got nothing to lose as of now.

Ahead of their next game against the Mumbai Indians, the Lucknow Super Giants will be hoping to end their losing streak. Rishabh Pant and his men will be looking to have a turnaround in the tournament before it gets too late.
