One to which the fan truly feels he belongs, priding himself with the author of that the very legacy. Mahendra Singh Dhoni aka MS or MSD is all this and more. So much more. Isn’t it?

And only a cricketer of his standing and repute could have led to the brilliant impact as seen recently right at the start of the Jharkhand T20 league in its season 2026.

Here is someone who was out injured and didn’t unfortunately feature in even a single contest in the recently concluded 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League. And yet, when he was given the coveted responsibility of flipping the coin to inaugurate the maiden contest of the Jharkhand T20 league, then the ensuing reception led to roaring celebrations.  

What’s making news on social media connected to the sport in this part of the world is the video that’s going viral showing MS Dhoni spreading his charisma in the opening ceremony of the Jharkhand T20 league. The said video shows the former captain of the Indian team stepping in forward to flip the ceremonial coin and in so doing bringing forth the start of the T20 league in Jharkhand. The league is the signature franchise based completion in the eastern state of the cricket obsessed country.

No fewer than six separate teams form the entity of the Jharkhand T20 league, with names such as Ranchi Titans, Jamshedpur Steelers, Chota Nagpur Royals, Koylanchal Super Kings, Dhanbad Diamonds and Santhal Strikers forming the six units or franchises.

A recent report on the said series published on the revered Times of India highlighted the essence of Dhoni adding a touch of gravitas to the competition. It would say-

“Dressed in a black polo shirt and sunglasses, Dhoni looked relaxed as he interacted with officials and players before taking his place in the stands. The crowd responded with loud cheers, a reminder of the affection he continues to enjoy in his home state.”

For the first time in his career as seen in the recent IPL did Dhoni suffer the ill fortune of not playing even a single game owing to his injury and had to watch the entirety of the competition from the sidelines.

But a beautiful gesture that caught the eye of all those who had gathered in the ground was to see the beautiful memento featuring different vivid sketches of Dhoni being presented to the great man. A touching gesture by the state board and the T20 league on the whole to a stalwart hailing from the very region.
