Abhishek Sharma, one of the most crucial batters of India in this T20 World Cup 2026, is yet to score a single run in this tournament. He has scored three consecutive ducks in three matches against the USA, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. He is definitely under some pressure and will be desperate to score runs in the upcoming Super 8 match against South Africa.

Former RCB pacer Varun Aaron also predicted this situation and advised Abhishek Sharma not to change his technique or overthink things in practice. Instead, he suggested that Abhishek should trust his natural instincts and stick to his original game plan.

“Just Don’t Practice” - Former RCB Pacer’s Shocking Advice to Abhishek Sharma Ahead of IND vs SA T20 World Cup 2026 Clash

Talking to the ESPNcricinfo show, Varun Aaron pointed out that Abhishek Sharma doesn't need to change his technique in the middle of the tournament and should trust his instinct and play the natural game.

Aaron said, “In a tournament within a tournament, you can't make any technical changes. You don't want to get into that zone as a batsman or a bowler because that completely shifts your mind from what you have to do in front of you to what you're doing. You don't want to be in that space at all. All you have to do is keep him in a good headspace, have a good chat with him, and maybe sometimes just don't practice; just go there, trust your instincts, and play. And that's what he's been doing. If you talk about the first game against the USA, that was a brilliant shot that went straight to the fielder. After that, obviously, he's gotten out to off spin.”

“Over the past year, he's been smashing off spin, leg spin, left-arm spin, fast bowling, everything. So, and it's not because of any technical change. He's also come out of a sickness. Sometimes cricket's a really funny game. A small incident like an injury or a sickness can just change your rhythm. And sometimes, if you just get too deep into your game instead of just being in a good mind space, that might hamper you. And I think he should just get back to doing things off the field that he likes doing, and I'm sure things will work out on the field for him," he added.

Abhishek Sharma has scored three consecutive ducks in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The 25-year-old got out on a golden duck against the USA, a four-ball duck against archrivals Pakistan, and a three-ball duck against the Netherlands in the last match.

Now he will aim to bounce back in the next game, which is India’s first game of the Super 8, set to be played against South Africa on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
