Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took to X on 25 August with a funny post that quickly caught fans attention. The post was a collage showing three images of the left-arm spinner, with one picture from 2017 captured a cleaner-shaven Jadeja in the Indian Test whites with the Oppo logo. Next to it was a 2026 frame of him smiling broadly in a wide-brimmed white hat and reflective sunglasses sporting a full beard and the Apollo Tyres branding. A larger close-up below highlighted the same bearded, joyful expression.
He posted the picture with the caption, “2017 i was 17 years old! And now i am feeling like 26 years. #Destiny.” Ravindra Jadeja, born on 6 December 1988, was approaching his 29th birthday in 2017 and is now 37. The tongue-in-cheek comment of being 17 back then and feeling 26 today was classic Jadeja humour and fans immediately recognised the joke and flooded the replies with laughing reactions, Sir Jadeja tributes and comments about his timeless fitness and swagger. The post has gone viral on social media receiving plenty of comments and likes from fans. A week earlier Jadeja was reflecting on a decade-plus India career after contributing to a Test win in Galle, the same venue where he shone in 2017.
Ravindra Jadeja’s Career and Performances
Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the best all-rounders across formats over the last decade. He made his ODI debut in 2009 and his Test debut in 2012, the Saurashtra left-arm spinner has become a regular across formats through his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. In Test cricket he has scored more than 4000 runs at an average of more than 35 including six centuries, while picking up more 350 wickets at an average close to 25. He sits in an exclusive club of all-rounders with 4000 runs and 350 wickets, joining Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori.
At home he has been particularly good, and in recent years his batting has been excellent and had a strong 2025 England tour that included multiple fifties and a century that helped India draw the series. In ODIs he has accumulated nearly 3000 runs and more than 230 wickets. He remains the only Indian to claim the Golden Ball as highest wicket-taker in a Champions Trophy (2013) and later hit the winning boundary in the 2025 final. His T20I career closed on a high note after India’s 2024 World Cup triumph. He retired from the format having played 74 matches. Ravindra Jadeja has turned 37 and is currently only part of the Test side for India.
