The love for cricket truly knows no bounds in a cricket frenzy nation such as India. But what’s important to remember in the context of the game is that the fans and audiences is that not all love is simply and exclusively focused only at the current or recent stars. A lot of love -and rightly so- remains also glued to the game’s past greats and that’s for good reason.

A flashback like revisiting the past

A recent heartwarming episode was a beautiful reminder of the same and just why the game holds such a big reason for reverence among Indian audiences.

Why this moment was beautiful

There was no Virat or Rohit or even Sachin in this one and yet, fans stayed glued as live audiences in this moment.

Cricket fans witnessed a beautiful and nostalgic moment in Pune as two generations of Indian cricket came together on the field.

Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, who led India to its historic 1983 World Cup victory, bowled a delivery to 93-year-old former India cricketer Chandu Borde during a special event.

The occasion was the inauguration of a new sand-based cricket ground at the Poona Club.

An event to remember

The event brought together several cricket lovers and dignitaries, creating a lively and emotional atmosphere.

Chandu Borde, who first represented India in 1958, showed great enthusiasm despite his age.

Holding the bat with steady focus, he faced Kapil Dev’s delivery while the crowd around them cheered and applauded. It was a rare and touching sight — a 93-year-old cricket legend still connected to the game he loves.

Kapil Dev, known for his humility and passion for cricket, shared the moment with a smile, making it even more special for everyone present.

The crowd celebrated not just the new ground, but also the rich history of Indian cricket.

 A special moment

This moment served as a reminder that cricket is more than just a sport in India — it is a bond that connects generations.
