Beyond the statistical pull of the game, beyond the contrasting, action packed and enigmatic results that the tussles between the bat and the ball bring forth, the great game of cricket is an emotional game. It’s a contest also of nerves jangling, hearts racing, sweat oozing and even rivalries forging. And here’s what’s just as interesting as the varying results of the bat and the ball. These emotions, often high octane, tend to come to light even in a game’s aftermath- as was also the case in yesterday’s action-packed and somewhat tense Chepauk evening as the Sunrisers Hyderabad romped home against the Chennai Super Kings.

There were a few emotion fuelled instances that sort of added to just how charged up the entire atmosphere was where it came to the Chennai Super Kings being hung out to dry by their familiar rivals - Sunrisers Hyderabad.

First up, Heinrich Klaasen, usually a man of restraint and focus and someone who’s not really habitual of offering lip service had a few agressive words to say to - of all people- Sanju Samson. That happened in the wake of the Protea batter’s dismissal; Sanju had stumped the right handed talent.

Next up, there was Ishan Kishan, who top scored from the Hyderabad stable make passionate and emotionally riddled gestures to the crowd to leave the stadia.

Worry not? That wasn’t in anger!

It was in the immense amount excitement of having seen his team beat CSK (and that too, at the latter’s home ground, much of a fortress)! The left hander’s charged up celebration stemming from the vital win his team so keenly needed in order to make it to the next round of the competition.

But was that all?  In reality, anything but!

Of all the people who were perhaps expectedly charged up on the field in an atmosphere engulfed with amazing vibes, partly tense, partly exciting but purely emotional, there was someone happy and off the ground. And celebrating in high spirits.

That was none other than Kavya Maran, the avid team owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad camp.

Elated and understandably so by the great win seized against a monumental IPL rival, she couldn’t keep hold of her sweet emotions and there was a moment in the aftermath of the video showing her jumping in joy where even social media fans said something interesting.

They were of the view that “let Ishan Kishan’s celebrations be… look at Kavya Maran!”

Surely, the SRH Camp have benefitted at the back of Pat Cummins’ inspired leadership and him proving to be a vital economical wicket taking bowler for his side. Moreover, the supremely effective mega partnership up the order featuring Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head has been exceptional. Then the two uncapped bowlers- Sakib Hassan and Praful Hinge- have been amazing to watch.

SRH have made it and now it’s what they do next in the Playoff stage that’ll go a long way to define their 2026 campaign. For now, they can focus their emotions on to the next game having pent it out well last evening.
