Not all is going right for two of the most popular, noted and renowned Indian Premier League outfits. And one of the safest things to say about them in that regard is that they both have seen much better or should one say, happier days in the past. That’s because where the on-field performances stand, then not a lot is going right for them. On the one hand, there is the Mumbai Indians side, languishing on the 9th spot of the IPL table (struggling despite a gaggle of talents such as Bumrah, Rohit, Rickelton, Rutherford, de Kock among others), and then on the other hand, there is the Kolkata Knight Riders team that’s the current bottom dweller.
And where it to their struggles, then both teams are - as many suggest, including fans- suffering at behest of their captains. Poor, inept captaincy often marred by indecisiveness has led MI and KKR to be where they are. That is what is being felt at the moment, largely speaking. And one of the leading cricket analysts Akash Chopra has even made a big prediction on his social media alluding to the fact that a major IPL team is “likely” going to change its captain and that too, mid season. Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has stirred conversation across the cricketing world with a bold mid-season prediction during the ongoing Indian Premier League. Taking to social media, Chopra hinted that a major franchise could be on the verge of changing its captain as the tournament progresses — a move that would undoubtedly signal growing pressure within struggling teams.

Pandya, leading Mumbai in a high-pressure season, has faced scrutiny over both leadership decisions and team results. Similarly, Rahane’s calm leadership style at Kolkata has yet to translate into victories, leaving the franchise searching for answers.

Big change mid season
Mid-season captaincy changes are rare in the IPL but not unprecedented, especially when teams find themselves in desperate situations. Chopra’s remarks have therefore added an intriguing layer of uncertainty to the competition.
With the league entering a crucial phase, all eyes will be on whether any franchise takes the drastic step of reshuffling leadership in a bid to revive their campaign and salvage pride.
