KL Rahul has scripted history at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as he has become the first ever Indian to score 150 runs in an IPL innings and he is the third player to reach the milestone in the IPL. Rahul played a magnificent innings and he was simply unstoppable but the Punjab Kings did have their chances but they couldn’t capitalize on it. Fortune favours the brave and Rahul did not shy away from any opportunity presented to him. He was well supported by Nitish Rana at the other end, as he was on song scoring 91 off just 44 balls. But all the spotlight will be on KL Rahul as he was criticised earlier on for his slow knocks and today he has shut out all the noise.

The Delhi Capitals have the opportunity to end the winning streak of Punjab Kings as they have put on a total of 264 on board. It will be a humongous chase for the men in red as they will have to bat out of their skin to chase it down. KL Rahul was clever in his approach as he targeted the area down the ground and got his boundaries flowing from there. Rahul ended up with a sensational score of 152 off 67 balls, including 16 fours and 9 sixes, striking at 226.87. All the talk and negative hate towards his batting approach must have vanished into thin air with this innings.

Third-highest individual total in IPL history powers Delhi Capitals to massive 264

“I mean only towards the end was I premeditating. Early on, I think for the first 70-80 runs, I wasn't really premeditating. I was just in a mindset to hit boundaries and put pressure on the bowlers. My strength is always to play proper cricket shots and I was trying to back that and try and believe that that's good enough to get my team past 250 and I continued to do that. Only at the back end was I premeditating and when the field is set, when the bowlers go to the wide off-field or a spinner field, you know kind of what to expect,” said KL Rahul after his innings.

KL Rahul is a very technically sound batter and he is known for his proper cricketing shots and innovation as well. He did try a cheeky shot off Yuzvendra Chahal but it didn’t pay off and he resorted back to his classical shots. Rahul seemed quite clear with his intent as he wasn’t caught in two minds, to preserve his wicket or to try for boundaries. One of the finest innings you will ever see in the TATA IPL and he has brought it against the best team in IPL 2026.

Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score in the IPL as he scored a massive 175* against the Pune Warriors in 2013. It is one of the most iconic knocks in the IPL as it was pure destruction from ball one. Such knocks simply cannot be recreated as the Jamaican flair is not something visible in every player.

Brendon McCullum holds the record for the second highest individual score in the IPL as he smashed a brilliant 158* off just 73 balls against the Royal Challengers Banglore. This was the inaugural match of the IPL in 2008 and that set the benchmark for IPL cricket. This is considered as one of the finest displays of power-hitting at this stage of the game.
