He happens to be, without much of a doubt, among the most talented and hugely skilled spinners to have ever burst onto the Indian cricket scene. His skill is redoubtable with the ball and he can produce magic with his spin whether the game is on a banal surface or a track that does offer some assistance to the bowlers.

His ability to factor in with the ball and make it count by way of useful wickets is something that is indeed tremendous and the sort of thing that tends to keep both orators on the game and those watching it on the tenterhooks and as far as Kuldeep Yadav is concerned, this will continue to be the order of the day whenever he steps onto the cricketing turf for Team India.

That, however, seems also to be the problem, precisely speaking. And it’s that Kuldeep Yadav hasn’t really been seen amid live action all that much for Team India.

While we’ve gotten used to seeing an outstanding gaggle of world class talents recently with quite a few younger talents even making their much anticipated debuts for Team India, a big question that remains out there is- why hasn’t Kuldeep Yadav not been played all that much or played at all since the T20 World Cup seen earlier this year.

Not being given an extended run? 

As a matter of fact, the left arm orthodox spinner was neither seen in the contests in all of India’s UK TOUR nor was he taken to Zimbabwe for the T20Is that happened, which ultimately led to a great result for the visiting side under Iyer’s captaincy.

Perhaps it’s about time that someone gave or decided to give an extended run to the wily customer who tends to excel in white ball cricket for India.

As a matter of fact the man responsible for two, not one hat tricks, in the preeminent white ball format for India, earned rich praise from the likes of one of the most noted names as far as India’s former selection committee is concerned.

Shouldering support when it most matters

Former selector MSK Prasad came into Yadav’s support and offered some telling insights about the spinner’s wonderful talent. He was of the opinion that “: "Kuldeep Yadav is the only genuine spinner in this side, while others, be it Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel or Washington Sundar, are spin all-rounders. And he is a genuine match-winner — the record speaks for itself. Kuldeep should be in the team's scheme of things across all three formats."
