The home ground of the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket will be the hosting venue for 2028 Olympic cricket games. A total of seven games will be scheduled at the venue, and the ground will serve as the venue for both men’s and women’s cricket events at Summer Games. The development was confirmed by ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta, who was speaking at the ‘ground breaking ceremony’ of the cricketing ground for the forthcoming edition of the quadrennial tournament.
Gupta said, "This is a moment in history because what we are breaking ground on today is not simply a cricket field. We are breaking ground on a promise. A promise that took 128 years to keep.” "When the International Olympic Committee formally approved cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Games, it wasn't just a scheduling announcement. It was a recognition that the Olympics should reflect the sports that billions of people love," he added.
