The Supergiants of Lucknow will play their curtain opener match of the IPL 2026 season against the Delhi Capitals in their home ground, the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Both teams would be desperate to win this match as they would want to have a good start to the season, as last year, both of them failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Rishabh Pant lost his first match for Lucknow Super Giants, which was played against DC with a very small margin ut then had a good season as they won their 4 matches but did not qualify for the playoffs. DC, however, under Axar Patel’s captaincy, started their season with a win, but lost against MI in a crucial do-or-die match, which led to their campaign ending at the league stage.

Both teams are coming into the season with great expectations and high hopes, and it would be interesting to see who amongst them qualifies for the playoffs.

Prithvi Shaw back in DC this year

DC bought Prithvi Shaw back this year after making the decision not to get him last year. All the players from both teams are fit as of now, and there is no news of injury from either side. LSG have signed up the West-Indian leg spinner, Gudakesh Motie, as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who did not pass the fitness test to get the NOC from the Sri Lankan Board. Motie dropped out of his PSL contract to join LSG in IPL.
