Lucknow Super Giants are one of the sides which made their IPL debut really late but showed good promise in the initial years where they made it to the playoffs. However, the last season was a very bad one for them as they failed to qualify for the playoffs and it was a tough season. Going into IPL 2026, LSG have fixed a few issues and are looking a really strong side leading upto the tournament. In this article we look at some of their tactical strengths ahead of IPL 2026.

Dynamic Overseas Top order

One thing, Lucknow Super Giants have done well is pack their top order with dynamic overseas batters. Aiden Markram and Mitch Marsh were a formidable opening pair in the last season and with Pooran to follow at three they had some really good time with the bat. This approach of putting all the three overseas batters at the top will give their best batters enough balls to make an impact in the game. This is an area in which they were very good tactically last season.

Emphasis on pacers

LSG have always focused on picking up express pacers. Mohsin Khan was the first break out bowler who did well playing for LSG while even Mayank Yadav rose to fame a few seasons back where he bowled consistently over 150 kmph and helped the team win many games. LSG have picked up a lot of pacers ahead of the IPL 2026 and they have a battery of pacers who can be used based on matchups.

Unique home ground

The Ekana stadium in Lucknow has two different types of soil and has been a venue which has not seen very high scoring games. This gives the LSG the advantage to prepare pitches based on their opposition. The venue also is suited really well for their players and that is one thing they have been very smart tactically in playing on different kinds of surfaces against different o

ppositions.
