The Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh has taken charge of the powerplay and he has found the boundary with such ease. Marsh has raced to his half-century off just 20 balls and it is his fastest fifty in the IPL. This will be yet another promising sign for the home side as this was exactly what they had in the previous season. When Mitchell Marsh gets going like this, the bowler no longer matters and then it will be a huge headache for the opposition to get him out. RCB will be looking to get rid of Mitchell Marsh as quickly as possible as he can cause a great deal of damage the longer he stays.
Josh Hazlewood stuck to his usual immaculate test match lengths but Mitchell Marsh took him on with authority. He struck some commanding boundaries around the ground and they haven’t found a way to deal with power hitting. Rasikh Salam was introduced early into the attack but he picked the wrong lengths to bowl to him. He started his over with a short ball and Mitchell Marsh pulled into the stands, hitting the biggest 6 of the day so far.

Marsh’s explosive powerplay assault gives LSG the upper hand against RCB
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru has had a good record bowling in the powerplay this season as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood have exercised their control all along. They had some phenomenal spells of bowling in recent times especially in the game against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Even in the games where the RCB batters haven’t put up strong totals on board, the bowlers have managed to tighten the opposition while defending the totals.
Today, the bowlers have missed their mark by a mile as their execution has been really poor and Mitchell Marsh has pounced on it with dominance. He took on the RCB pacers in style as he was smashing the bowlers around the park for fun. Mitchell Marsh has gotten to his best score this season and he has utilized the area down the ground. There was a close chance in the over of Rasikh Salam but it just had enough legs on it to go for six. It will be interesting to see how Mitchell Marsh will carry his innings forward.
The Lucknow Super Giants have some batting to come down the order in the form of Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant predominantly. They could get across the 200-run mark with ease and give themselves a decent chance of winning the game.
