Australian pacer Mitchell Star engaged in an adorable interview after ripping through the Bangladesh batting lineup in the second Test. After getting humiliated at home by their South Asian counterparts in the opening Test, the Baggy Greens bounced back in the second, and the chief architect of their dominance was pacer Mitchell Starc. The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side was bundled out at 64 in 34 overs, while the Pat Cummins’ boys put up 165-8 by the end of Day 1’s game.
Earlier in the day, Mitchell Starc claimed a five-wicket haul within the first seven hours and struck again after lunch to finish with impressive figures of 6/12. Starc dismissed both Bangladesh openers, Shadman Islam and Tanzid Hasan on ducks, and followed their wickets with Mominul Haque’s dismissal. Visiting skipper Shanto, Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shoriful Islam were the next scapegoats. However, following the day’s game, Starc engaged in a wholesome interview with his wife and former captain of Australian women’s team Alyssa Healy.
Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy’s Heartwarming Interview Goes Viral
In the video of their interview, which is now viral on social media, Healy could be heard asking Starc, "Yeah, who would have thought they'd stitch this one up? I paid for dinner last night. Does that mean it's now your turn?" Starc replied to it by saying, "You're paid the bigger bucks than I am.” The game saw Aussie skipper Pat Cummins winning the toss and inviting the rivals to put the score on the board first. Starc reflected on the decision and said, "You said it before, you've played here more than the rest of us, but, yeah, I mean, we clearly weren't at our best last week.”
"To get first use of that wicket, a lot of the Queenslanders here have said it's a lot like the Gabba. So, yeah, to make first use of that in the first session, you can't be too unhappy. Six in the first session, can't beat that. Obviously a little bit of anger. It's worked well so far, hopefully we can keep it up," he added.
With his fiery bowling spell, Starc has etched his name into the history books by becoming the leading wicket-taker in the World Test Championship (WTC) history. He has overtaken teammate and Aussie skipper Pat Cummins, and now holds 230 wickets in 56 games. Moreover, he is also now at the top of the wicket-takers’ list in the ongoing WTC 2025-27 cycle with 54 dismissals from 10 Tests. He is now ahead of Josh Tongue from England who has 53 dismissals.
