Sunrisers Hyderabad are playing their second IPL 2026 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The toss was won by the host team, and they chose to bowl their opponents in the first innings. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, the opening batters for SRH who did not perform well in the first match against RCB, went behind the bowlers of Kolkata today.
Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma shared a blistering opening partnership of 82 runs in just 5.4 overs for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Unfortunately, Head lost his wicket to Kartik Tyagi at the end of the 5th over as he tried hitting Tyagi for a big six, but the ball was caught by Cameron Green, who was standing at the boundary.
Abhishek also lost his wicket at the hands of a catch taken by Varun Chakravarthy on Blessing Muzarabani’s ball, but ended up scoring 48 runs and also hit his 101st six for the Sunrisers today. Abhishek Sharma hit a total of 4 sixes in his knock today. His second six of the night was his 100th six for Sunrisers Hyderabad, making him the first Indian player to reach that century mark for the franchise.
Abhishek has been with this team for a really long time. He was retained during the 2025 mega auction after his impressive performance in the 2024 tournament. At the rate Sharma is playing he might also cross the former SRH skipper, David Warner’s score of hitting 143 sixes for the team.
Top 5 most six hitters for the Sunrisers
| Player | Team | Sixes |
| David Warner | SRH | 143 |
| Abhishek Sharma | SRH | 101 |
| Heinrich Klaasen | SRH | 89 |
| Kane Williamson | SRH | 64 |
| Travis Head | SRH | 50 |
The Sunrisers have been a team to identify big hitters in the first glance and this is not the first time their batter has reached a score of 100+ sixes. David Warner hit 143 sixes for the team during his time with the franchise. Sharma has already hit 101 sixes and looking at his form it doesn't look like he will stop before breaking Warner’s record. Heinrich Klassen who has been with the team since 2024, comes third in the place by hitting 89 sixes. Former SRH captain, Kane Williamson is also a part of this elite list as he has also hit 64 sixes during his stint. Travis Head who also has the record of hitting one of the fastest fifty in the IPL also holds the fifth position of hitting 50 sixes for the team.
SRH set a league record in 2024 by becoming the first team to hit 100 sixes in a single season within just their first eight matches. The team holds the record for the most sixes in a single IPL innings, striking 22 sixes twice during the 2024 season (against RCB and DC).
