Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal met former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni during practice camp in Chennai on Thursday. The Kings will be up against the five-time IPL champions in the seventh clash of the IPL 2026 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, April 3, 2026. Kings, who are coming off a three-wicket win over the Gujarat Titans in their season opener, would aim to add another victory to their cap.

However, the Super Kings, who suffered a loss to the Rajasthan Royals in a blowout fashion, would aim to open their winning account in their own backyard. On the eve of the clash, both teams engaged in practice sessions, where Chahal met his former Indian cricket team teammate MS Dhoni. In a video shared by the Chennai-based franchise, Chahal could be seen approaching Dhoni and later embracing him in a hug.

The video that was accompanied by the caption, “Yuziiii! Long time no see,” went viral in no time, and fans couldn’t help but recall the time both spent playing together for India.

Latest update on MS Dhoni’s injury ahead of clash against PBKS

On the eve of their second IPL 2026 clash, Chennai Super Kings players including MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis were seen engaging in net session. Notably, Dhoni was initially ruled out for the first two weeks following a calf strain, while Brevis missed the clash against the Rajasthan Royals with a side strain.

Though the status of both players remains unclear for the Punjab fixture, seeing their beloved ‘Thala’ in action surely gave relief to Chennai fans. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad talked about the injury updates of both the players ahead of their first match at home, but didn’t give any clear update about either of them.

Talking about Brevis, Gaikwad said, "He's taken off today, so I'm not really sure. Yesterday, we didn't have a chat.” However, when asked about the former captain, he claimed that the latest update will be provided on the 13th day of Dhoni’s injury layoff. It is to be noted that Gaikwad-led CSK suffered an eight-wicket loss to the inaugural season champions on March 30, 2026.
