MS Dhoni resumes light training with jogging and batting drills at Chepauk as he recovers from a calf strain, while Dewald Brevis’ return offers a timely boost to a struggling CSK side ahead of crucial IPL 2026 fixtures.
MS Dhoni was seen jogging and undergoing light physiotherapy sessions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) recently as part of his recovery from a stubborn calf strain. While he has resumed light activity, the "only jogging" update has sparked some concern among fans regarding his immediate match readiness.
Dhoni is recovering from a calf muscle strain that has kept him out of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opening matches of the IPL 2026 season.Official reports as of April 10, 2026, confirm that Dhoni has not yet been cleared for explosive movements, such as the high-speed sprints needed between wickets or the rapid squatting motions required for wicketkeeping. He is currently undergoing daily sessions with the CSK physio and a specialized masseur in Chennai.

Despite the jogging restriction, he was seen participating in extended batting drills at the MAC B ground earlier this week, reportedly facing throwdowns without visible discomfort. A decisive fitness test is scheduled within the next 48 hours to determine if he can progress beyond jogging.
Dewald Brewis returns to squad amidst disappointing performance of CSK
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has had a difficult start to the IPL 2026 season, losing their first three matches and currently sitting at the bottom of the points table. However, the team is set for a significant boost with Dewald Brevis declared fit to return for the next match against Delhi Capitals on April 11. The team is currently winless (0–3) and has struggled with both opening partnerships and death bowling.
Sarfaraz Khan has been a standout, scoring 99 runs at a strike rate of 202.04. Youngsters like Ayush Mhatre (74 runs) have also shown promise. Dewald Brewis, the South African batter, often called "Baby AB," is expected to provide much-needed stability and aggression to the middle order. Brevis has recovered from a side strain that sidelined him for the first three games. He was seen hitting massive sixes in the nets at Chepauk today and explicitly told fans during a team event, "Can't wait to see you guys on the 11th".
He is likely to slot in at No. 4, potentially replacing Kartik Sharma or Prashant Veer to boost the scoring rate.
