We are almost half way through the IPL 2026, yet it feels incomplete. Why? The absence of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni. The former Chennai Super Kings, who is nearing the end of his IPL career, was ruled out of the initial stage of the season citing calf injury. Since for the last few seasons, there have been constant speculations as to when Dhoni would draw curtains on his glorious career with the Chennai Super Kings, fans didn’t want to leave any chance to see their beloved ‘Thala’ play in the yellows.

Recently, there were rumors that Dhoni has been given a green signal by the doctors and he has achieved his fitness levels. Later, videos of him hitting in the nets came in as a ray of hope for the fans. While sources suggested that there were strong chances of him making his season debut in the clash against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, the latest reports might disappoint many.

MS Dhoni to not make his season debut against Gujarat Titans: Reports

As per the latest reports by RevSportz, the former CSK captain is unlikely to make his debut against Gujarat Titans. The reports further suggest “Dhoni is recovering steadily but might take a little more time to return to the playing fold.” It is to be noted that CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was asked about Dhoni’s availability for the game during the pre-match press conference.

Fleming replied by saying, “MS, he is progressing well. He is on the road to recovery and doing everything that’s being asked of him.” Sources suggest that the management has left it to 44-year-old to decide. Though he has been training hard in the nets, but with the team now having a settled wicketkeeper-batter in the form of Sanju Samson, the five-time IPL winning captain might not push himself.
