After winning the match against the Delhi Capitals at their home ground in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK fans are in for some good news. As per sources, MS Dhoni is likely to feature in the next match against KKR. The veteran player is said to be recovering from his calf injury and would play after clearing the fitness test. Dhoni has missed the first phase of IPL 2026 (including matches against RR, PBKS, RCB, and DC) due to a calf muscle strain.
He has recently resumed training and was seen batting and jogging during net sessions at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Reports from April 10-12 indicate that he is "closing in on a return" and specifically targeting the KKR fixture.
If not fully fit for wicketkeeping, there is a possibility he could be used as an Impact Player. In his absence, Sanju Samson has been handling wicketkeeping duties. Since, the match against KKR is scheduled in the homeground of the Super Kings it would surely be a delightful moment for the fans to see the player in action.
CSK wins their first match of IPL 2026
The Chennai Super Kings registered their first win of the season against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Chepauk Stadium. The win came after losing three consecutive matches which included two away and 1 home matches. The win came at a crucial time for the win when all their senior players were under the fire and management was also being criticised for trading Ravindra Jadeja who has been impressive in the tournament.
Sanju Samson scored a much needed century after his comeback in the World Cup, while Ayush Mhatre also scored a half century was then retired out by the management to let Shivam Dube play quick in the last few overs and score runs for the team. Bowlers also contributed to the team as Gurjanpreet Singh picked up his first wicket at debut and Jamie Overtone picked up 4 wickets sealing the victory for the team. Overtone took the crucial wickets of Sameer Rizvi, Tristian Stubbs, David Miller and Aquib Nabi.
