Netizens shared various opinions on the Indian Test and ODI squad announced by the BCCI for the Afghanistan series. Just after the conclusion of IPL, the Indian team will play a home series against Afghanistan from June 6-10, a one-off test series and a three-match ODI series. Shubman Gill will lead India in the test series with KL Rahul as the new vice captain, replacing Rishabh Pant. Shreyas Iyer too makes a comeback in the ODI squad and is a vice captain alongside Gill. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were also named for the ODI squad, but their selection would heavily depend on the fitness approval from the BCCI. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested.

Netizens shared their opinion on the inclusion and exclusion of the squads. Some questioned why Sanju Samson was not included or given a chance to captain the ODI side, even after such a great form in the T20 World Cup and also in the IPL. Some were happy with the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ODI squad. Some questioned the exclusion of Aquib Nabi and Mohammed Shami, too. Maiden call-up for Harsh Dubey, Gurnoor Brar, Manav Suthar and Prince Yadav (for ODIs only) also surprised a lot of Netizens.

Four Indian players get maiden call-up as BCCI prioritizes Domestic cricket over IPL
The BCCI announced the Indian squads for the multi-format series against Afghanistan, featuring four maiden call-ups: Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, and Prince Yadav. Aquib Nabi, the Jammu & Kashmir bowler whose excellent performance in Ranji grabbed eyeballs with almost 100 wickets in 2 seasons and gave J&K their first Ranji trophy, didn’t get a call.
Harsh Dubey: The left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder earned a maiden call-up across both the Test and ODI squads.
Gurnoor Brar: The young fast bowler also received his first national selection for both the Tests and the ODIs. Gurnoor Brar plays domestic cricket for Punjab and for GT in IPL.
Manav Suthar: The left-arm spinner received his maiden national call-up for the one-off Test match.
Prince Yadav: The pace bowler from Delhi was rewarded with a maiden call-up, specifically in the limited-overs (ODI) squad.
