New Zealand have announced their 15 member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Mitchell Santner will lead the team and there were no real surprises in the squad. They have a good balanced in both pace and spin department while the batters have had great exposure in T20 Leagues around the world. New Zealand were disappointing in the 2024 World T20 where they could not make it to the next round and they will be keen to have a better tournament this time around in 2026.
Santner will also play a crucial role in the team's spin bowling department. Both the frontline spinners, Santner and Sodhi were part of the 2016 T20 World Cup in India. Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell and Tim Seifert form the batting core in the squad. Tim Seifert will join the squad at the end of Big Bash League. Tim Robinson loses his spot in the side.
Adam Milne returns to the squad with the likes of Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. While Kyle Jamieson will travel with the squad as the pace bowling reserve. Speaking about the squad, New Zealand coach Rob Walter said "We've got plenty of power and skill in the batting, quality bowlers who can adapt to conditions, plus five all-rounders who all bring something slightly different. This is an experienced group and the players are no strangers to playing in the sub-continent, which will be valuable”
