Nicholas Pooran was under scrutiny for his poor performance and lack of form in IPL 2026. But the tables turned on 4th May, 2026 at Wankhede stadium. In a display of power hitting, Nicholas Pooran smashed a brilliant 63 off just 21 balls against Mumbai Indians. This was his maiden fifty of the season that would definitely bring his confidence back and give a boost to LSG lineup. LSG promoted him to the third position for first time in lineup and Pooran didn’t Disappoint.

He now has 1500 runs for LSG and 10,500 runs in T20 Cricket. In previous eight innings he just had 82 runs at a strike rate of 81. The 16 ball fifty has helped him to reach to five IPL centuries by a batsman with 20 balls or less - which is the second highest by any batsman in history of IPL after Abhishek Sharma.

Most 50s in less than in 20 balls in IPL:

Abhishek Sharma (SRH) - 6

Nicholas Pooran (LSG) - 5

Vaibahav Sooryavanshi (RR)- 4

LSG lock horns with MI in a do-or-die match

Mumbai Indians have lost to Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, and with 7 losses, they are at the bottom of the table with just 4 points. They are almost out of the tournament; they can only qualify if they win all remaining matches, and it will depend on other teams too.

LSG, on the other hand, has a similar fate. They too have 4 points and are at the bottom of the table with 6 losses. This is a must-win game for them to stay alive in the tournament.

MI bowlers once again got dismantled at their own backyard. First Mitchel Marsh started well with a 25 bll 44 but coming down at three Nicholas Pooran went all berserk. Bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah too struggled for control, Pooran scored a 21 ball 67 making Wankhede his ground and then picked up his bat to celebrate blowing a kiss.

With 220 plus on board by LSG, will have to wait to see if dew comes in and MI can chase this off!
