
On this day, April 29, 2022: Lucknow Super Giants defend a low total against Punjab Kings as Krunal Pandya steals the show. It was the 42nd match of the IPL 2022 between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings. LSG were batting first and lost the wicket of KL Rahul early. Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda stitched up a massive partnership to bring LSG back in the game.
Lucknow Super Giants lost their second wicket with 98 runs on the board. Quinton de Kock was dismissed for 46. Deepak Hooda was run-out and suddenly Lucknow Super Giants were in a spot of bother. The middle overs went really well for Punjab Kings as they kept picking up wickets. Kagiso Rabada and Chahar were among the wickets as LSG went from 104/2 to 111/6 in the middle overs.
Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chameera played their shots as the lower order of Lucknow Super Giants helped them reach 153 at the end of the first innings. It was a disappointing finish considering the start they had but LSG had some runs on the board to defend. Chasing the target, Punjab Kings started well as they put up 35 runs for the opening wicket partnership. Mayank Agarwal was the first to fall as he got out for 25. The surface still had enough for the bowlers and the LSG bowlers made a terrific comeback.
Punjab Kings were put under pressure in the middle overs as LSG did not allow them to score freely and kept picking up wickets to stay in the game. Krunal Pandya delivered a crucial spell as he picked up 2 wickets and gave away only 11 runs. LSG bowlers were clinical as they reduced PBKS to 133/8 and won the match by 20 runs. It was a thriller and Krunal Pandya was the star that delivered it for the Lucknow team.
