On this day, April 4, 2024: Sudharshan and Bowlers shine as Gujarat Titans beat Delhi Capitals. It was the seventh match of the IPL 2023 between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner started things well for DC but they eventually lost their first wicket with 29 on the board as Shami picked up the wicket. He struck again dismissing Mitch Marsh cheaply and GT had a great start to the match.
David Warner formed a partnership along with Sarfaraz Khan as Delhi Capitals rebuilt the innings but they lost two wickets in consecutive balls as they went from 67/2 to 67/4 in the ninth over as Alzarri Joseph picked up two quick wickets to put Gujarat Titans totally on top of the game. Sarfaraz Khan continued to counter attack and play a few shots but was dismissed for 30 by Rashid Khan.
Abhishek Porel along with Axar Patel put up a good partnership to bring Delhi Capitals back in the game. They had a decent finish to the innings as Axar smashed 36 runs off 22 balls and Delhi Capitals finished with 162/8 at the end of the first innings. Shami and Rashid Khan picked up three wickets and were pick off the bowlers.
Chasing the target, Gujarat Titans lost both their openers cheaply as Saha was dismissed for 14 and Gill also fell cheaply. Sai Sudharshan batted with composure and responsibility to help Gujarat Titans recover. Hardik Pandya also was dismissed for 5 and the game was in the balance. The partnership between Sudharshan and Vijay Shankar was excellent as they took GT home. David Miller provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 31 as GT won the match in 18.1 overs with six wickets spare.
