On this day, April 6th 2024: Jos Buttler smashes a century to take RR home against RCB. It was the 9th match of IPL 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals. The match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Royal Challengers Bengaluru were batting first and the openers started really well. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis put up a 125 run partnership for the first wicket to put RCB in complete command. Faf du Plessis was the first to get dismissed for 44 runs off 33 balls.
Rajasthan Royals bounced back as they dismissed Maxwell and Saurav Chauhan cheaply to bring the game back in balance. Virat Kohli continued his brilliance and scored a terrific century. Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished with 183/3 at the end of the first innings as Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 113 off 72 balls. It was a terrific innings from the opener as RCB posted a very good score on the board.
Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal were the pick of the bowlers for RR with Chahal picking up two crucial wickets. The game was in balance at the half way mark and it was set up for a nice finish. Rajasthan Royals lost Jaiswal for duck in the chase and they were in all sorts of trouble. Sanju Samson joined Jos Buttler and the duo took the game completely away from RCB. These two batters added 148 run partnership for the second wicket as Samson was dismissed for 69 runs off 42 balls.
Jos Buttler continued his sublime form and scored a century as Rajasthan Royals won the match by six wickets in the last over. Rajasthan Royals needed 1 run to win in the last over and Buttler was on 94* and he smashed a six to complete his century off 58 balls and also helped RR win the match. It was an epic match between these two sides.
