Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka was visibly left in tears after skipper Rishabh Pant finished off the game and guided the side to their first win of the IPL 2026. The Super Giants were up against the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad in the first game of Sunday’s double-header. Coming off a loss in their season opener, the Capitals looked determined for their first win.

As Pant finished off the game with a four and recorded a five-wicket win, franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka couldn’t contain his happiness and was left in tears. His reaction quickly went viral, highlighting the significance of the victory for the Lucknow-based franchise.

Notably, the Super Giants got off to a favorable start and quickly dismantled the top batting order of their counterparts. However, the duo of Heinrich Klassen and Nitish Kumar Reddy stitched a 116-run stand, and pushed the Orange Army to a modest total of 156 at the loss of nine wickets. In return, the guests had a favorable start, owing to Aiden Markram’s 45-off-27. Skipper Pant remained not out at 68 off 50 balls, and helped the team open their account in the current season.
