
On this day, August 1,2023: India sealed the three-match ODI series against West Indies with a thumping 200-run win in the decider at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad. After the unexpected loss in the second match, the visitors produced a complete performance to take the series 2-1.
Batting first, India recovered quickly from an early wobble thanks to a fluent partnership between Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Gill made 85 off 92 balls while Ishan Kishan who was in good form throughout the series, contributed with 77. Sanju Samson then injected some momentum with a brisk 51 before Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 70 from 52 balls to help India dominate. They got some useful late runs from Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, helping India to a massive score of 351 for 5.
West Indies struggled a lot in the chase. Mukesh Kumar struck early, removing Brandon King, and Shardul Thakur soon ran through the middle order. Kuldeep Yadav kept the pressure on as the innings unravelled. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 151 in 35.3 overs.
Shardul Thakur finished with four wickets, Mukesh picked up three, and Kuldeep chipped in with two in a disciplined bowling effort. The result underlined India’s depth and marked a strong response after the previous loss. It was a memorable performance from Team India under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya.
