On this day, February 24,2010: Sachin Tendulkar became the first batter to score 200 in ODIs. The God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar on this day ten years ago became the first ever batter to breach the 200 run mark in ODIs. He achieved this remarkable feat at the age of 36 which makes it more fascinating. India were batting first against South Africa at Gwalior and Sachin Tendulkar opening the batting carried the bat through the innings as he remained unbeaten on 200*. He reached his 200 runs in 147 balls and created history. His innings included 25 fours and three sixes and was one of the biggest highlights of the day. India won the match by 153 runs.

India were batting first and lost the wicket of Sehwag early but Sachin Tendulkar looked in stunning touch right from the start and stitched a partnership along with Dinesh Karthik as the duo put up 195 run stand. Dinesh Karthik was dismissed for 79 by Wayne Parnell. India were 219/2 at that stage but Sachin was going strong at the other end. Yusuf Pathan was promoted and smashed a quick fire 36 as India were going at a very good run rate.

India lost their third wicket with the score 301 and in walked MS Dhoni who took apart the bowlers in the final overs of the innings. MS Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 68 runs of 35 balls and Sachin Tendulkar completed his double century as India posted a massive total of 401/3 at the end of the first innings. It was a spectacle and the fans all over the world would have enjoyed this masterclass.

Chasing such a big total was always going to be a tough ask and South African batters crumbled early and lost the first five wickets with just 102 on the board. AB De Villiers was the lone warrior as he smashed a century but South Africa were bowled out for 248 as India won the match by 153 runs. AB De Villiers remained unbeaten on 114 but India won the game and this day belonged to the GOD of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.
