On this day, February 26, 2023: Australia Women win their sixth T20 World Cup. It was a memorable day for Australia cricket as the Women’s side managed to clinch yet another title. It was the Final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 and the final was between South Africa and Australia. Two teams that were undoubtedly the best in the competition. Australia were batting first and started well scoring 36 runs for the first wicket partnership before Healy was dismissed. Beth Mooney played really well and took the game on with positive batting. Ash Gardner was sent in at 3 and she smashed a quick fire 29 runs of 21 balls. Australia Women lost their second wicket for 82 as Tryon picked up the wicket.

Australia Women suddenly lost two more wickets and they were reduced to 122/4 in 17.1 overs as Meg Lanning departed. The run rate was decent but they were still lacking a bit and needed a big finish. They got exactly that as Beth Mooney shifted gears and smashed plenty of runs in the death overs. Australia Women ended with 156/6 at the end of the first inning thanks largely to Beth Mooney who remained unbeaten on 74 of 53 balls and helped Australia reach an above par total. Shabnim Ismail and Kapp picked up two wickets each for South Africa Women.

South Africa lost opener Brits early in the chase but Laura Wolvaardt kept going and played a terrific knock. South Africa lost Kapp and Luus in quick time as they were reduced to 54/3. Wolvaardt and Tryon stitched up a fifty run partnership as South Africa Women came into the game. Wolvaardt completed her half century but she was dismissed for 61 runs as they lost their fourth wicket with 109 on the board.
