On this day, February 6, 2021: Sydney Sixers win second successive BBL title after beating Perth Scorchers in the Final. James Vince smashed a 60-ball 95 to power the Sydney Sixers to their second successive Big Bash title when they beat Perth by 27 runs. He has already made an unbeaten 98 against the Scorchers in the Qualifier a week before, Vince did more of the same in the final smashing ten fours and three sixes and surviving two dropped catches. Sydney Sixers were batting first and delivered a terrific performance on the back of a spectacular knock from James Vince. He was dismissed for 95 runs and Sydney Sixers in the first innings ended up with a score of 188.

To put into context on how significant his knock was, no other batter apart from Vince could score more than 20 runs in the Sydney Sixers team. Yet they managed a very good score at the halfway mark of the match. Jhye Richardson picked up two wickets along with Andrew Tye while leg spinner Fawad Ahmed picked up one wicket.

In the chase, Perth Scorchers started well for scoring 45 runs for the opening wicket. Liam Livingstone was batting beautifully and Bancroft was the first wicket to go. Then another wicket followed as Perth Scorchers were two down with 56 runs on the board. Perth continued to be in the chase till Livingstone was batting. He was dismissed for 45 by Jackson Bird as the partnership was broken and Perth were 95/3. They required another 93 runs in the last nine overs with seven wickets in hand.

With Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis at the crease Perth would have been hoping to get the job done. But unfortunately, they kept losing wickets and ended the innings with 161/9 falling short by 27 runs. This was a second successive BBL title for the Sydney Sixers and this victory belong to James Vince as he was named the player of the match for his outstanding knock of 95 runs. Sydney Sixers lifted the title and it was a memorable day for the fans of the franchise.
