On this day, March 26: Shivam Dube stars as Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans. It was the seventh match of the IPL 2024. Chennai Super Kings were batting first and the openers started really well putting up a partnership of 62 for the opening wicket. Rachin Ravindra was the first to be dismissed for 46 runs off just 20 balls. CSK had got off to a good start and they were going at a good run rate. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 46 before getting dismissed.

Ajinkya Rahane fell cheaply and just as Gujarat Titans started to make a comeback, Shivam Dube came in and counter-attacked. The stylish left hander smashed 51 runs of just 23 balls before getting dismissed to Rashid Khan. He had taken CSK to the driver seat with that knock and this innings propelled them to a massive total of 206/6 at the end of the first innings. Shivam Dube smashed five sixes and two fours in his knock. It was a stunning knock that ensured Chennai Super Kings got a good total on the board.

Chasing the target, Gujarat Titans lost their opener Shubman Gill cheaply and they had a slow start in the power play. Saha also lost his wicket as they were in deep trouble. Sai Sudharshan played a few good shots but it was not enough as the wickets kept falling from the other end. Chennai Super Kings pacers were excellent as Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande picked up three wickets each as Gujarat Titans were reduced to 143/8 in the chase and Chennai Super Kings won the match by 63 runs. It was a solid effort from CSK to start their campaign.

Shivam Dube was the player of the match for his terrific half century. The left hander completely changed the game on its head with his innings and he took it to the Gujarat Titans bowlers. It was a comprehensive win for the Chennai Super Kings side at home and it was one of the most memorable knock from Shivam Dube in that season.
