On this day, March 7,2017: India beat Australia in a thriller during the Bengaluru Test. It was an epic Test match between India and Australia at the Chinnaswamy stadium and the game ebbed and flowed both ways but India managed to cling on to it in the end. India were batting first and kept losing wickets. No batter except KL Rahul could do well on a square turner but it was KL Rahul who kept India in the game as he smashed 90 runs of 205 balls which helped India to post a total of 189 while batting first and on a tricky surface that was decent effort from the batters.

For Australia, it was Nathan Lyon who starred with the ball picking up eight wickets as India were bundled out for 189. In the second innings, Australia did extremely well with the bat. Matt Renshaw started off well with David Warner as they put up a fifty run stand for the first wicket. Matt Renshaw continued to bat well and went past his half-century. Ravindra Jadeja picked up the big wicket of Steve Smith but Shaun Marsh scored 66 as Australia were motoring along. Ravindra Jadeja did really well as he picked up six wickets and Australia went from 220/5 to 276 all out.

Australia had taken a decent lead on that surface and were ahead in the game at the end of the two innings. India came strongly in the third innings as KL Rahul scored yet another half-century while Pujara supported him really well. Cheteshwar Pujara made 92 and Rahane scored 52 and India put up a good score on the board. India were bowled out for 274 in the third innings and had given their bowlers some target to defend.

The target in the fourth innings for Australia was 188 and this time it was Ravi Ashwin who changed the game completely. Australia crumbled to spin as they were bowled out for 112 and Ashwin picked up six wickets as India won the Test match by a margin of 75 runs. It was an epic Test match and most of the credit for the win had to go to KL Rahul who batted really well.
