On this day, May 10, 2024: Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan smash centuries. Gujarat Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill formed a terrific partnership as they took the attack after the powerplay. The duo put up a 210-run partnership to put Gujarat Titans in a completely dominant position. Shubman Gill smashed 104 runs from just 55 balls before getting dismissed while Sai Sudharsan scored 103 of 51 balls. Gujarat Titans lost the wickets of both their openers in the 18th over. They had a good finish in the final few overs as Gujarat Titans posted a total of 231/3 at the end of the first innings. It was a brilliant effort from them and a very good score at the halfway stage.
Chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings lost three wickets in three overs with just ten runs on the board. Rachin Ravindra was run out in the first over of the chase and Rahane got dismissed for 1 in the next over. Ruturaj Gaikwad also lost his wicket as CSK were in all sorts of trouble at 10/3. Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali stitched up a brilliant partnership to bring CSK back in the game.
Both batters smashed half centuries and took the attack to the bowlers. CSK lost their third wicket with 119 on the board in the 12th over. Both batters fell and, in the end, Dube and Dhoni played cameos but it was too little too late as CSK were reduced to 196/8 and lost the match by 35 runs. Shubman Gill was the player of the match.
